Secondary Progressive MS and My Sister - Sept 2007

My sister has secondary progressive MS and was diagnosed over 25 years ago, although her condition has deteriorated during the last ten years.

She has not been able to bear her own weight for these ten years and spends all day and night in an electrically operated chair which lifts her up and lies her flat, and has a massage effect for stimulating her muscles. She is dependent on carers and family for all basic needs.

Earlier this year she began to use Aimspro and wishes me to comment on her progress.

She has begun to feel better generally and has more control over her movement in her upper body.

She can pull herself forward in her chair which she was not able to do before.

She feels more positive about the future. Her expectations are small for able bodied people;

She would like to move around her house independently, go up to bed and have a shower.

Not great demands but she hopes that one day she will be able to do this.
