Nicks Personal View

Dear Proventus This is just a quick note to thank you for all you did to help us on our recent trip to England. Kathy has already written a note to you but I wanted to send you a personal note to say how grateful I am.

The Aimspro made it safely across the Atlantic and we had no trouble with customs and immigration in Detroit. In fact, the customs inspector was friendly and helpful and there was effectively no delay.

The treatment is working well for me. You are absolutely right; I am facing a long, uphill battle. I think it is very important to establish a list of expectations to measure the drugs effectiveness.

In my case, after only one treatment I was able to move the little finger of my right hand. This is very exciting for me because the whole hand has been useless for about 5 years.

I am quite sure that many people would not regard moving their little finger as much of an achievement, particularly if their major problem is that their tennis game is a bit off! But for me, this is very exciting.

Although there are many things that I would like to do, I have limited my expectations to three things over the next three months;

1) be able to open my right hand;

2) be able to clear my throat;

3) be able to speak clearly for more than three minutes.

If I can achieve these goals I will regard my treatment as a spectacular success.

It is important to note that these things would not be impressive for everybody and each person needs to set their own expectations based on their level of disability. That range of disability runs from "slight" to "vegetable" and levels of improvement would be appropriate for each situation.

Thank you once again from a recovering "vegetable".

Best regards, Nick

Nicks Update July 2007

Nick continues to make slow but steady progress on Aimspro and we are content that the serum is working. This past week (19-Feb-07) he set a new record of 2.1 miles in 20 minutes on his (modified) Airdyne exercise equipment.

When he started biking with the new "rig" in mid-December, Nick was only strong enough to manage 5 minutes at a time so this is definite, measurable improvement. The right arm and hand are not progressing as fast as his legs but we are confident that the tight muscles will eventually relax and stop "fighting" him so he can start to use it again.

The Airdyne certainly helps flex the arm and tire the muscles and Nick also reports that he can feel it in his core muscles as well. This is helping him to sit up straighter and he is finding rides in the car to be easier with this added core strength.
