The criteria for access

The person has a confirmed diagnosis of MS.

The person has a named Consultant Neurologist.

The person meets one of the named criteria.

Named Criteria                                                   

The person with MS experiences reduced mobility or any other limitation that affects or threatens their daily activities, and who has not been seen by a physiotherapist since that limitation arose.

Any person who requires specialist advice or information regarding their physical management.

Specialist advice or opinion with regard to a MS person’s physical management is required by any one of the referring health care professionals.

Physiotherapy in MS - Physiotherapy is an important therapy that enables many MS people to maintain their independency. A physiotherapist will undertake an assessment to identify the person’s needs, provide advice and information, or referral to appropriate services.

 

The experience and feed back from our members with suggests that physiotherapy is an effective tool and would enable them to manage their MS better. It is required three to four times per week.

Taking steps to combat mobility and flexibility problems before they arise or worsen is a common sense approach. It will help the person retain a higher degree of independency and provide a better quality of life..
