Reactive Arthritis -An autoimmune condition reactive arthritis develops in response
to an infection in another part of the body. Coming into contact with bacteria and
developing an infection can trigger reactive arthritis.
Previously known as Reiter's syndrome.
Arthritis means inflammation of one or more joints. Reactive arthritis occurs when
a joint reacts to an infection elsewhere in the body. The infection which triggers
reactive arthritis is not actually in the joint, but is usually in the gut or urethra.
An infection within a joint is different and is called septic arthritis.
