Family History.
Mother died aged 88 years. Clostridium Difficile Infection, following surgery for
bowel cancer. She was also an Asthma sufferer.
Father died aged 82 years. Ischaemic Heart Disease. He was also an Asthma sufferer.
Past Medical History.
Fractured bone in lower left arm at 3 years of age.
Asian flu sometime between 1959 and 1960.
Measles. (Date not known).
Rubella. (Date not known).
Chickenpox. (Date not known).
Vaccinations
Diphtheria.
BCG.
Rubella.
Polio.
Symptoms.
Sometime about 1977 examined at the Glasgow Southern General Hospital, Neurological
Sciences Dept. to determine reasons for loss of feeling in upper left leg. At that
time MS not diagnosed and no other reasons given.
Sudden but temporary loss of vision in left eye in August 1991, relapsing remitting
MS diagnosed due to severe scarring in optic nerve.
Deterioration increasing in 2004
Mobility - unable to walk unaided, balance, dropped foot, bladder function compromised,
gradual loss of vision in left eye together with a severe squint.
2009 onwards - Treadmill ½ mile, Arm Bike 10 minutes, Inclined Walker 12 minutes.

Diagnostic Severity 12 Areas involved - Maximum possible score 60. Higher score
= more severe.
Aug’ 91 Score 3 = 5% severity in affected areas.

Jul’ 10 Score 18 = 30% severity in affected areas.

Baclofen, Tizanidine and Ditrusitol no longer required or prescribed.
In 1991 MS was diagnosed when severe scarring of the optic nerve was noted after
temporary loss of vision. It is interesting to note that an eye examination in 2009,
the optometrist confirmed that no scarring was evident in the optic nerves in both
eyes.
For over a year since 2009, the patient has been and still is actively exercising
at a local gym.
Took part in a randomised placebo clinical study for MS. This took place at Ninewells
Hospital, Dundee, between 2001 and 2002 - result of trial unknown.
