The main focus of Pilates is on core strengthening – the core being the muscles from the pelvis into the rib cage and diaphragm. Most movements of the body can and should activate these core muscles.
Using breathwork and flow of movement correctly, Pilates works on overall stability and balance of the body.
The Benefits can be significant depending on a person’s commitment to Pilates and their reasons for doing it. Some people use it for rehabilitation and medical reasons while others choose to do Pilates for exercise, fitness and the body sculpting effects!
