Naturopathy

Natural healthcare system that considers the body has the knowledge and ability to heal itself. Some practitioners apply diet, exercise, hydrotherapy, osteopathy, others also use, homeopathy, herbalism and acupuncture in their portfolio of treatment.

Stress is considered to be a major disturbing factor for the body, as may be hereditary factors, and the lifestyle that people lead (incorrect nutrition).

Nerve function affected by posture, misalignment of joints perhaps due to injury.

Addressing these issues, and any others that may be uncovered naturopathy seeks to re-establish the vitality and energy the body requires for good health that will support its own self-healing pathways.

It may be considered that Naturopathy is to Western cultures what traditional Chinese medicine and traditional Indian medicine ‘Ayurveda’ is to Eastern cultures. (An holistic health system that works towards placing the body and mind into balance.)

Naturopathy appears to have a long history - Hippocrates (about 470~410 BC) used the description ponos, ‘the bodies constant efforts restore itself to normal balance. (In  Greek mythology Ponos was the god of pain. His mother was the goddess Eris ~ the goddess of strife.)

Aristotle (384~322BC), the philosopher, spoke about the life force having more than a reason than to simply exist.
