Equipping People To Make Sense Of What They Are Told
Ovaries secrete the hormones:
Estrogen - responsible for the appearance of secondary sex characteristics of the
woman at puberty and for the maturation and maintenance of the reproductive organs
during their mature functional state.
Progesterone - functions with estrogen by promoting cyclic changes in the endometrium
(it prepares the endometrium for pregnancy), as well as helping maintain the endometrium
in a healthy condition during pregnancy.
As a woman goes through her menopause, her ovaries stop releasing eggs and make far
lower levels of hormones.
