Modafinil - Provigil®
An anti-narcoleptic medication used to treat excessive sleepiness caused by sleep

- Attention-deficit - hyperactivity disorder (ADHD).
- Fatigue
It is an oral drug that is used for improving wakefulness in patients with excessive
sleepiness. The effect of modafinil is similar to caffeine.
Both drugs (Modafinal & Caffeine) promote wakefulness by stimulating the brain. Thus,
both drugs are considered stimulants.
Side effects may occur
- Anxiety.
- Bruising or bleeding.
- Chest pain.
- Depression.
- Diarrhoea.
- Difficulty breathing.
- Dizziness.
- Dry mouth.
- Feeling nervous or agitated.
- Fever.
- Headache.
- Hallucinations.
- Hives.
- Insomnia.
- Muscle weakness.
- Nausea.
- Numbness.
- Pain.
- Severe tingling.
- Sore throat.
- Swelling of the face, lips, tongue, or throat.
- Uneven heart beats.
- Unusual thoughts or behaviour.
- Vomiting with severe blistering, peeling, and red skin rash.
- White patches or sores inside the mouth or on the lips.
- Fatigue.
In rare cases, the medication can cause a life-threatening side effect known as Stevens-Johnson
syndrome. This problem begins with a rash, therefore, contact your clinician immediately
if you develop any unexplained rash while taking modafinil. It is impossible to know
