Riboflavin (vitamin B2) is created in the body by the intestinal flora

Riboflavin is best taken with B group vitamins and vitamin C

Niacin is best taken with the B group vitamins and vitamin c.

Nicotinic acid, but not nicotinamide in doses larger than 200 mg causes flushing by dilating the blood vessels these flushes are normally harmless

Pantothenic Acid best taken with the B group vitamins and vitamin A, C and E

Pyridoxine best taken with the entire B group vitamins

Vitamin C  magnesium, sodium, potassium, zinc, linoleic acid and fatty acids are good partners.

Folic acid best taken with the B group vitamins and vitamin C

Excess may mask vitamin B-12 deficiency

Vitamin B-12 best taken with Iron, calcium, sodium, potassium and vitamin C.

Only found in animal products.

Requires 3 hours for absorption.

Absorbed through the stomach requires the intrinsic factor which is produced by the stomach.

One problem that appears in deficiency is the eroding of the myelin sheath

Vitamin B-1 (Thiamine) Water soluble

Required for:

Blood formation and the metabolism of carbohydrates.

Assists the health of the nervous system

Used in the biosynthesis of a number of cell constituents, including the neurotransmitter acetylcholine and gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA).

It is used in the manufacture of hydrochloric acid, and takes part in digestion.

Vitamin B-2 (Riboflavin) Water soluble

Required for:

Use of oxygen

The metabolism of amino acids, fatty acids, and carbohydrates

Activates vitamin B6 (pyridoxine), involved in creating niacin and assists the adrenal gland.

Used in red blood cell formation, antibody production, cell respiration, and growth.

Vitamin B2 is required for the health of the mucus membranes in the digestive tract

Assists the absorption of iron and vitamin B6.

Vitamin B-3: (Niacin) Water soluble

Required for:

Cell respiration, helps in the release of energy and metabolism of carbohydrates, fats, and proteins

Assists proper circulation and healthy skin

Active in the functioning of the nervous system, and normal secretion of bile and stomach fluids.

Used in the synthesis of sex hormones.

Vitamin B-5: (Pantothenic Acid) Water Soluble

Required for:

The secretion of hormones, such as cortisone due to the part it plays in supporting the adrenal gland.

The hormones assist the metabolism

Assists in combating allergies and are beneficial in the maintenance of healthy skin, muscles and nerves.

Active in the release of energy and the metabolism of fat, protein and carbohydrates.

Used in the creation of lipids, neurotransmitters, steroid hormones and haemoglobin.

Vitamin B-6 (Pyridoxine) Water soluble)

Required for:

Assisting the immune system and the growth of new cells.

The processing and metabolism of proteins, fats and carbohydrates

Assisting with controlling mood and behaviour.

It assists in the balancing of sodium and potassium and promotes red blood cell production.

It is further involved in the nucleic acids RNA as well as DNA.

Combating the formation of the toxic chemical homocysteine, which is detrimental to the heart muscle.

The balancing of hormonal changes in women .

Vitamin B-9: (Folic Acid) Water soluble

Required for:

DNA synthesis and cell growth

Red blood cell formation, energy production as well as the forming of amino acids.

Essential for creating heme, the iron containing substance in haemoglobin

Healthy cell division and replication, since its involvement as a coenzyme for RNA and DNA synthesis

Protein metabolism and in treating folic acid anaemia.

Assists in digestion, and the nervous system

Regulates embroyic and foetal development of nerve cells

Vitamin B-12: (Cyanocobamin)  Water Soluble

Required for:

Maintenance of the central nervous system.

The manufacture of red blood cells and the maintenance of red blood cells

Promotes growth and release of energy

Used in the metabolism of fats, proteins and carbohydrates.
