The body is composed of two different groups of substances:

Organic

Inorganic

The chemical actions of the organic and inorganic groups are referred to as ‘metabolic pathways’

Various organic substances are broken down, then reformed as a ongoing process by your body from the various foodstuffs you eat, the fluids you drink and the air you breathe.

Organic structures exist in a state of flux; they are proteins, vitamins, carbohydrates and fats.

Inorganic substances cannot be broken down by your body, these unchanging chemicals are minerals.

Minerals, both major and micro, are as important as the organic structures.

Some minerals work in conjunction with each other, others oppose each other.

It is very important to ensure that the correct ratios between minerals is maintained.

Note.

Self prescribing is dangerous when addressing disease problems.

Supplementation is very specific, there is not a general rule that you can all follow.

An analysis of you as an individual is very important.

Nutritional Therapy

Nutrition, may appear to be a simple matter, (food and fluids in - waste and fluids out), in reality nutrition, is a very complex subject.

Your body requires a varied amount of nutrients, supplied in differing amounts to sustain itself and maintain its health. Some nutrients the body manufactures, (e.g. Vitamin D is created through the action of sunlight on the skin), others have to be supplied externally through the food chain.

Fluids are also required, used by the body as a transport system.

The quantity and quality of nutrients is important, some nutrients the body can store, (e.g fat soluble vitamins) others it cannot, (e.g water soluble vitamins, amino acids).

The concept of food to be used therapeutically isn’t recent. The ancient civilisations of India and China have long used foodstuffs when treating various disorders, as did the Romans, Greeks, South American tribes,The American Indian, as have many cultures, worldwide, throughout their history.

Nutrient deficiency, allergies and food intolerance can have an impact on your general health, weakening the body, more so when you have a disease to fight.

Lifestyle forms part of the effort in maintaining the bodies general health;

The amount of exercise that can be managed should be applied.

The amount of sleep possible and needed should be pursued

How the working environment affects the individual.

Every person is an individual, and  nutritional requirements will differ from one to another.

When seeking advice be certain that the person is qualified and accredited by a recognised professional body.
